Peer Review Process

1.    Overview of the Peer Review Process

Progressive: Journal of Advanced Educations applies a double-blind peer review system to ensure the objectivity and quality of published articles. In this process:

  • Reviewers do not know the identity of the authors, and vice versa.
  • Every submitted manuscript is evaluated by at least two independent reviewers who are experts in the relevant field.

2.    Stages of the Review Process

Step 1: Initial Editorial Screening

  • The editorial team conducts a preliminary check for format compliance, plagiarism (maximum 20% similarity), and relevance to the journal’s scope.
  • Manuscripts that pass this stage are forwarded to peer reviewers.
  • Manuscripts that do not meet the basic requirements will be returned to the authors for revision or rejected outright.

Step 2: Double-Blind Peer Review

  • The manuscript is assigned to two or more reviewers who evaluate:
    • The originality and contribution to the field of educations.
    • The clarity of research objectives and methodology.
    • The validity and depth of data analysis.
    • The coherence of discussion and conclusion.
    • The accuracy of references and citation style.
  • Reviewers provide constructive feedback and recommendations for improvement.

Step 3: Reviewer Recommendations

After the review, reviewers submit one of the following recommendations:

  • Accept without revisions – The manuscript is ready for publication.
  • Minor revisions – The manuscript requires slight modifications before acceptance.
  • Major revisions – Significant improvements are needed, and the manuscript must be resubmitted.
  • Reject – The manuscript does not meet the journal’s standards or falls outside its scope.

Step 4: Author Revisions and Resubmission

  • If revisions are required, the authors must submit:
    • A revised manuscript incorporating the reviewers’ suggestions.
    • A response letter explaining how each reviewer’s comment was addressed.
  • Revised manuscripts are reviewed again by the editor, and in some cases, by the same reviewers.

Step 5: Final Decision

  • The editor makes the final decision based on reviewer feedback and manuscript improvements.
  • Accepted manuscripts proceed to copyediting, layout formatting, and final proofreading before publication.

3.    Ethical Considerations in Peer Review

  • Reviewers must evaluate manuscripts objectively, confidentially, and without conflicts of interest.
  • Authors should ensure honest and transparent research reporting, avoiding plagiarism and data manipulation.
  • The journal maintains strict ethical publishing standards, following COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) guidelines.

4.    Timeline for Peer Review

  • The review process typically takes 4–8 weeks, depending on revisions and reviewer availability.
  • Authors will receive updates regarding the status of their submission through the Online Journal System (OJS 3).
